When a blue screen happens, Windows can save a small dump file that helps us find the cause. Make sure it is enabled, then get the file after a crash.
Enable the minidump
- Press Win + R, type
sysdm.cpland press Enter. - Go to the Advanced tab and click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
- Under Write debugging information, select Small memory dump (256 KB).
- Make sure the dump file path is
%SystemRoot%\Minidump. - Click OK and restart your PC if asked.
Get the minidump file
After the blue screen, run the System Diagnostics Tool with option 4 (Copy BSOD Minidumps). It copies the files to a folder of your choice: compress it into a ZIP and attach it to your support ticket, with any other file asked on the error page.
