Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) must be disabled. On some PCs, VBS can be disabled directly from Windows or the BIOS. On others, you must disable virtualization completely.

Method 1: run DisableFeatures

  1. Download the file below.
  2. Run it as administrator and restart your PC.
  3. Check msinfo32 to see if Virtualization-based security is disabled.
The file may open in your browser as text. Right-click → Save As, and save it with the .bat extension.

Download DisableFeatures.bat

Method 2: disable VBS from Windows

  1. Open the Start menu and search for Core isolation.
  2. Open Core isolation.
  3. Turn Memory integrity off.
  4. Restart your PC.
  5. Press Win + R, type msinfo32 and press Enter.
  6. Confirm that Virtualization-based security is disabled.

Still running? Continue with the BIOS method below.

Method 3: disable VBS from the BIOS

Use this method if Windows does not show the option, if it is locked, or if msinfo32 still shows Virtualization-based security as running after restarting.

  1. Restart your PC and enter the BIOS.
  2. Look for one of the options below. Its exact location depends on your motherboard manufacturer.
  3. Disable it and save the changes.

VT-dAdvanced → CPU Configuration
SVM ModeAdvanced → CPU Configuration (AMD)
AMD-VAdvanced → CPU Configuration (AMD)
IOMMUAdvanced (AMD boards)
AMD IOMMUAdvanced → AMD CBS
Secure Virtual MachineAdvanced (AMD laptops)
Hyper-VAdvanced → Windows OS Configuration
If your BIOS has a dedicated VBS or Virtualization Based Security option, disable that first. Otherwise, disable every virtualization option available: VT-x and VT-d on Intel, SVM and IOMMU on AMD.

Can't find any of them? Search for your motherboard or laptop model followed by disable VBS or disable virtualization.

Check

Press Win + R, type msinfo32 and confirm that Virtualization-based security is disabled.
